Doggone

Doggone recounts the life and times of its twenty-nine year old narrator, Gabe, the son of a freewheeling bigamist father, as he indulges his twin obsessions: to kill a disease-ridden dog and to locate an ex-girlfriend whom Gabe believes did not really kill herself, after all. Set variously in the infamous town of Oxbow, British Columbia, and in Victoria, Portland, and Budapest, this is a rollicking romp that tromps on conventions of timelines, character consistency, and narrative coherence as it entertains the reader with the progressive disintegration of the narrator’s erratic and contradictory persona.
