An evening of readings and discussion with the students of the Spoken Arts Program

Join Spoken Arts as they highlight the brilliance of their seniors and the culmination of the work they’ve cultivated over the 4 years of this program. You will witness both solo and group pieces speaking to their experiences and level of artistry. We will end with a Q&A to engage our seniors in a reflection and celebration of their work!
Students in Spoken Arts explore their creative voice(s) through poetry, dramatic and comedic performance, improvisation, rap, and public speaking. The core of this four-year program is writing and performance, hand-in-hand. Spoken Artists have a passion for writing and an interest in honing their voice to perform their work. Over the course of the program, students meet a wide ranging group of artists in residence who support them in their journey to finding their authentic written and performance styles.
CICI is an Oakland born, Richmond-raised spoken word artist, educator, curator, past Poet Laureate and author. She received her MFA in Writing from California College of the Art and has been performing slam poetry for the last decade in the Bay Area.
