INDECLINE celebrates the publication of
“Control Alter Delete”
INDECLINE’s Billboard Liberation photo anthology spanning over two decades
INDECLINE will be joined by Jack Napier of the Billboard Liberation Front for an in-person panel, some readings, and Q&A
This event will be followed at 7:30 pm by an art installation at Studio Fall Out, 50-A Bannam Place, San Francisco, California, 94133
The photo anthology provides readers with a behind the scenes look at INDECLINE’s controversial billboard liberation career through photos, declassified stories from some of their most brazen missions and contributing essays from legends such as Ron English, Jack Napier (Billboard Liberation Front), Shepard Fairey and Igor Vamos (The Yes Men).
INDECLINE, founded in 2001, is an anonymous activist art collective who has utilized guerilla art installations, experimental theater, performance art and billboard liberation as tools to satirically address the various political issues in America and abroad. In the Bay Area, they are best known for installing a naked Donald Trump statue (“The Emperor Has No Balls”) in the Castro District in 2016.
Praise for INDECLINE:
“In my mind INDECLINE are rebel folk heroes of the highest order not just because I love their mischief and hustle, but because they tackle some of the most important issues facing the nation” – Shepard Fairey
“INDECLINE is taking something that has been done for millennia and making it fresh and new and capturing a new market, bringing it to a new generation” – Ron English
“INDECLINE uses humor. Their best actions are straight hilarious. Deadly serious, but funny as fuck. So many of their billboards are comedy works of art.” – Jack Napier of Billboard Liberation Front
“A more dedicated band of gleeful anarchists and absurdist rebels would be very hard to find. This merry group of anonymous troublemakers are bringing the fine art of billboard alteration into the 21st century with a vengeance” – Winston Smith
“INDECLINE’s activism over the last two decades has a most impressive batting average in my opinion. The world throws curveballs at us every day and it is the job of an artist to respond in kind” – Tim Mcllrath of Rise Against
